Kicking Back In Chunky Heels

Meet my new shoes. My new babies. A product of my favourite time of the year (the Topshop mid-season sale) these London Block Sandals are my new favourites. Now, I'm not usually one for a chunky heel, I prefer the elegance of a stilletto, the delicate clip clop of a court, not the clomp clomp of a chunky heel. Not to mention they almost always look ridiculous on my teeny ankles (the skinniest part of my body, fair?) which look like they're about to snap off the bottom of my legs. So it's safe to say that when I slipped these on they were almost bound to look ridiculous. But then something amazing happened. Straying away from my classic, safe choice of a black court shoe had paid off. I felt fun, flirtatious, excited and on trend. The coral heel is a perfect nod to this seasons colour palette, the hidden studs give them an edge. Most of all, the chunky heel makes them comfortable. I could walk, skip, dance, twirl in them almost instantly, something which one can rarely do in platform stillettoes. So my advice to you and my new motto? Buckle up and clomp forwards in a chunky heel, you won't regret it.

Wrists Wrapped Up

Stack them, layer them, match them, clash them, however you wear wrist candy, it's your prerogative.

David Beckham for Elle

Last night, frenzy swept Twitter as Elle Magazine (@ElleUK) revealed that they had appointed their first ever solo male cover model. The questions were endless: who could it be? Why is a women's fashion magazine putting a man on the cover? Will it be fashion? Will it be hot?

The name quickly emerged as one of Britain's most loved men: David Beckham. Now, opinion was divided. What on earth was a footballer doing on the cover of our magazine? The other side was positive, as 50% of the Beckham force, David has gone from strength to strength since the beginning of his footballing career, now heavily involved in fashion with an advertising campaign for Armani Underwear under his belt, he also has a bodywear range for H&M out in stores, for which he is the face.

The question remains: Why David? Why not Tom Ford? Why not Raf Simons, the newest addition to the Dior force? Why not someone who screams FASHION? I think Elle have made a fantastic choice, David Beckham is known, he is loved, he is admired, he is a father, he is a husband. He is someone women can look at, and look up to simultaneously, a quality few men have. David Beckham and Elle joined forces in LA last night to create something new and exciting, to mark a milestone in the magazines history. The result? We'll have to wait and see. I for one, cannot wait.
