Hello Lovelies! I
can’t believe how long it’s been since my last blog post! I’ve been so busy
moving back to Newcastle into a new flat from my lovely countryside home (which I miss so much, I hate the lack of grass and quiet) and
starting a new job! Ever since I started, I’ve been playing with beautiful
clothes, styling beautiful clothes and helping with the online marketing and
merchandising of beautiful clothes. Best job ever? I think so. Here’s a sneak
peak at the blog post I’ve written for work, a brand profile of my new favourite
designer label, Helmut Lang.
...
Helmut Lang was established in 1986 and immediately became known for its signature minimalist, deconstructed, edgy designs. The brand aesthetic of Helmut Lang could be described as severe, but for fashion lovers like ourselves Helmut Lang is perfect for pieces with a difference and a modern twist on classic shapes. The clean lines of leather and suede are countered with soft chiffon fabrics and loose, luxe jerseys, meaning that Helmut Lang is the perfect day-to-night outfit solution. Helmut Lang strikes the perfect balance of "smart casual" with its immaculate tailoring and soft jersey shapes making each piece wearable and practical for your wardrobe. The diversity of fits and styles means there's a piece which will suit all body shapes with ease and comfort.
In 2004, Helmut Lang was bought by the Prada Group
which consequently led to the departure of Mr Lang himself from the
brand. During this time, Helmut Lang receeded from its former fashion
frontier and seemed to briefly lose its unique vision. The brand was
then re-launched in 2006 with new designers and a new creative team
after Link Theory in Japan acquired it. Since then, Helmut Lang
has re-established itself as one of the leading brands in the fashion
market and has returned to its former strength despite being described
as a commercial reduction of Mr Lang's original fashion identity. The brand is now wearable, accessible and incredibly desirable. A new aesthetic has been developed and refined, sportswear luxe with an edge is a now a clear concept throughout the collections. Each piece ties into the last, resulting in a seamlessly elegant and coherent
collection. Helmut Lang is not a follower of trends, it has a clear
vision of its own which many of its fans and followers covet. The Helmut
Lang new season pieces are top of our wish lists, specifically the Boucle Sweater and the Jacquard and Leather Jacket. We can't wait to see what the designers deliver next.
